Be a mentor, and friend for a middle school student in the Bay Area through CaLiCo Youth Services!

We are looking for volunteers who can commit to meeting with students in person at the elementary school once or twice a week for 1.5 hours each time. These meetings will be after school (in the afternoons). They will involve using fun activities to improve students' math and reading skills and building a warm, safe relationship with them. The times for the meetings are:

      - Tuesdays: 2:15-3:45, Thursdays: 1:15-2:45 (Roosevelt Elementary School)
      - Wednesdays, Fridays: 1:30-3:00 (Taft Elementary School)

The volunteers will also attend online training and volunteer meetings (approximately 2 hours/month).

All volunteers have to be located in the San Francisco Bay Area, and should be able to travel to the elementary school. All volunteers are required to be fingerprinted and vaccinated.

We are looking for community members (working or retired), high school students (16+), college students, and recent college grads who can commit to meeting students 1-2 times a week, throughout the remaining 2021-22 academic year, including summer 2022 (and hopefully beyond).

About CaLiCo:
We are CaLiCo Youth Services, a nonprofit organization that works with elementary school students from the Redwood City School District (in the San Francisco Bay Area).  We have a network of caring mentors that our students can rely on throughout their school experience, and beyond. Our mentors work with students over a long period of time. We start with kindergarten and continue to support our students as they grow up, providing a support structure so they can succeed academically and in their personal lives.
