Thank you for your interest in the Albemarle County Safe Spaces & Places Grant Program, a support initiative for County-based businesses that have temporarily expanded or will temporarily expand outdoors to conduct business due to COVID-19.
To complete the application, you must:

EconomicDevelopment@albemarle.orgApplications must include a conceptual plan and cost estimates (or receipts) for expenses such as:
•
tents
•
outdoor heating (space heaters, etc.)
•
outdoor furniture
•
outdoor lighting
•
sanitizing stations
•
portable bathrooms
•
signage
•
extended WiFi
•
point of sale systems
•
other elements that promote safe, outdoor business activity
Only non-residentially zoned parcels are eligible to apply. Costs will be reviewed for reasonableness and applicants must certify that expenses are in response to the COVID-19 crisis.
Applications will be considered on a first-come, first-serve basis until all funds are expended. The inquiry form will close on October 2nd and review of the completed applications will begin. Funds will be distributed by the Community Investment Collaborative soon after approval. Projects must be completed before December 30, 2020.
The Albemarle County Safe Spaces & Places Grant Program is funded with federal Coronavirus Relief Funds under the CARES Act.
