2023 Intro to Packing Registration
We are excited that you are interested in joining Artemis and Back Country Horsemen New Mexico Jemez Chapter for an introductory class to packing horses and mules. To ensure we are all on the same page, here are a few specifics about the co-ed event:

What this is:
This event is co-ed. Experienced packers will introduce types of saddles and gear, talk about how to manage different loads, lead length and show a couple of videos. They will also talk about one or two knots.

What this is not:
Hands-on practice with horses and mules.

Date: Saturday, 1/28/2023

Time: 1:00-3:00 PM.

Location: Loma Colorado Library, Rio Rancho, NM.

What to expect: Packers will share their experience of what's needed to take horses and/or mules into the backcountry. The information shared will be in a classroom setting. You'll be able to see examples of saddles and other necessary gear.

Things to consider: The library does not allow food or drinks at this time.

There is no charge to attend the class.

If you'd like hands-on training with provided animals, please watch for details on our upcoming packing clinic on April 1, 2023. The location will be at the Cyclone Center in Stanley, New Mexico. Cost and times TBD.
