Kansas Future Teacher Academy 2024 Application
The Kansas Future Teacher Academy at Emporia State University (ESU), sponsored by The Teachers College has graduated more than 1,300 of Kansas' brightest high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Since 1989, when the first academy had the honor of receiving the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) Christa McAuliffe Showcase for Excellence Award. The Future Teacher Academy at ESU has provided select students with the opportunity to learn more about the challenges and rewards of teaching and has become recognized as an established and highly respected educational opportunity for students throughout the state of Kansas.

During this intense five-day program, the participants share in a variety of activities that will help them to better understand what teachers do. Activities include participating in social emotional learning, project based learning, active engagement strategies, and having the opportunity to listen to and interact with Kansas Master Teachers, Kansas State Teacher of the Year Team, National Board Certified Teachers, among other highly accomplished educators.

Only those students who sincerely are interested in teaching and want to learn about the career in education should apply. Applications for the academy are available to all current (2024-2025) Kansas public and private high school freshman, sophomore, and juniors. KFTA will be held at Emporia State University June 3rd-7th, 2024 OR July 15th-19th, 2024.

To apply for Kansas Future Teacher Academy you will need to:
1) Complete this application
2) Have one letter of recommendation from an educator of your choice emailed to Mr. Todd Roberts at troberts@emporia.edu

If you are selected for KFTA, then you will need to pay $100 to reserve your spot.
