Enrollment form for mentors - WISeMom project at The Weizmann Institute
Welcome to the WISeMom project, and thank you for your willingness to help student mothers!

This is an enrollment form for women interested in being mentors. The only conditions are that you are a student (or post-doc) and a mother.

After you enroll, you will be invited for a zoom interview. Later we will try and find a suitable mentee for you (according to the information you provide here).

Mentor-mentee couples will meet for ~4 hours a month.

What does it mean to be a mentor in the WISeMom project?

Many students feel lonely when they become mothers, and experience challenges with balancing time, self-esteem problems and trouble focusing on their studies and research work. The purpose of this project is to pair mentors that are more experienced with balancing motherhood and student life with those who could use some help. The mentor is meant to listen to the challenges of the mentee, and make her feel that she is not alone. The mentor can share her experiences, how she overcame hardships and what she does to better handle her situation. If you feel you still have challenges, this is normal and okay! The idea is to have a safe space for the mentee to share and receive perspective. At the meetings with your mentee, you can think together about how to deal with challenges and how you can help.

We hope that you will get a sense of meaning from mentoring, and from meeting the wonderful community of mentor mothers at the Weizmann Institute.

What is *not* within the responsibilities of the mentor?
Solving the mentee's problems is not your responsibility – The idea is for you to think together, and for you to listen and reflect together.
It is not your job to help the mentee with her course material. Her academic success is not your responsibility.

All the questions below are meant to allow us to match the best mentors with the mentees who need them.
