The Jamaica Animation Nation Network (JANN) is the association where all stakeholders in the Jamaican Animation Industry should be a member. We invite tertiary and vocational students, animation educators, freelancers, animators, illustrators, riggers, modelers, video editors, etc. to become a member of our network. As a student at a Tertiary and Vocational Institution and a member of JANN you have the opportunity to enter your animated short to get awards. The TAVIA Awards has five (5) categories:
- Best Animation
- Best Story
- Best Voice Acting
- Best Character Design
- Peoples' Choice Award
Important Dates:
- Entries Open: Friday, April 26, 2024
- Entries Close: Sunday, July 7, 2024
- Selection Notice: Monday, July 15, 2024
Conditions:
- You must be a registered student with any of the following tertiary or vocational training institution. If your institution is not listed, please email us at info@animationjamaica.com. INSTITUTIONS: CARIMAC, University of the West Indies; Edna Manley College for the Visual and Performing Arts; Garmex Academy; HEART College of Innovation and Technology; Jamaica Theological Seminary; Southwest TVET Institute; The Mico University College; University of Technology Jamaica; Vocational Training Development Institute.
- You must be a paid JANN member. Please note: at least one member of the team must be a paid JANN member.
- The entry should be no older than one (1) year.
- The production should be a minimum of one (1) minute in length.
- The production should be submitted in MP4 format.
- The model sheet should be submitted as a JPEG file.
- If you have a trailer for the production, it should be submitted in MP4 format.
- If you have a poster for the production, it should be submitted in JPEG format.
Judging Criteria:
Before AnimeCom:
- The trailer and poster for your production will be used to promote AnimeCom Fest and the screening of your production at the event.
At AnimeCom:
- Your production will be screened at AnimeCom on Saturday and Sunday morning.
- The announcement for winners in the TAVIA Awards will be done on Sunday.
