This form is to be used by New York State (NYS) schools to notify the New York State Education Department (NYSED) of their intent to offer the New York State Seal of Biliteracy (NYSSB) in the 2023-24 school year.  Please submit this online form by December 1st.

It is recommended that NYSSB Coordinators print out the template of this form from the website below to identify the data that needs to be collected before attempting to fill out the online form.  The templates can be downloaded from the NYSSB website.

Section I on the form refers to the rubric that will be used to evaluate student culminating projects.  Schools may use one of the Sample OBEWL rubrics, use a consortium rubric, or create their own rubric.  If a school uses their own rubric, a copy of said rubric must be sent to obewldocsubmit@nysed.gov at the time that this School Notification form is submitted.
