Petition to Re-open Southwest Utah
To our elected and appointed officials:

Thank you for your service in these very tough times. We know you are facing extremely difficult decisions and we are praying for you to have wisdom.

It is unprecedented in the history of our country for these orders to be applied to a virus and to control the entire population. This is a gross overreach of power. Health orders do not suspend the individual’s rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

While we do support actions to “flatten the curve,” we do NOT support flat-lining our economy and quarantining our Constitution.

We want our churches OPENED. We want our businesses and economy OPENED. We want our right to move freely while living safely and taking precautions.

We fully support the common-sense, voluntary efforts of social distancing & conscientious personal measures. Everyone who can work from home should do so, and the most vulnerable should be protected and stay at home

We the people of Southwest Utah ask the state, city and county offices to immediately suspend unconstitutional executive health orders and reopen the economy while continuing to take action to fight the virus in a scientifically based and economically rational way.

10 Practical Reasons for Re-opening:

1. Businesses are going bankrupt.
2. Social distancing is banned by the First Amendment to the Constitution.
3. It is not the government’s place to decide what aspects of our lives are essential or nonessential.
4. People are capable of educating themselves and able to take fitting actions to benefit their own health.
5. People have a right to live their lives, work, and pursue the American dream.
6. It is the ability of people and countries to adapt that creates true economic resilience.
7. A poorer Utah will be a more vulnerable and less healthy Utah.
8. COVID-19 can't live in the heat nor sunshine and Saint George has already hit 96 degrees on May 6th.
9. The nanny-state can't protect us from LIFE.
10.The state of emergency cannot extend beyond 30 days without a Joint Resolution of the Legislature. The state of emergency was issued March 6, 2020, and expired on April 5, 2020.

We reject the whole "2.0 plan" and want to go back to freedom and free markets, trusting in people to make wise decisions about their health and their employment.

Thank you for hearing the voice of the people.

Please sign this petition in support of our SW Utah officials commissioners to reopen Southwest Utah (Iron, Kane, Washington Counties).
