Have you recently completed data collection for a research project? Perhaps you have wondered how to develop your skills to be able to speak at a future BVNA Congress? Whether you are in the process of completing a dissertation, have worked with an interesting case in practice, or maybe an unusual scenario led to a change in your practice protocols – we’d like to hear from you!

Held during BVNA Congress, Research Bites provides an opportunity for those who have undertaken research relevant to the veterinary nursing profession to showcase their findings in the form of posters and optional short oral presentations.

Using the form below, please submit your abstract for consideration. Please note the abstract submission deadline is Monday 1st August 2022.

Terms and Conditions 2022
The BVNA invites the submission of abstracts concerning current research within veterinary nursing. All abstracts will be peer reviewed, and following acceptance may be given the opportunity to present via a poster and/or verbal presentation during BVNA Congress 2022.
The Research Bites event has been growing in popularity each year, and as a result we are inviting abstract submissions in three different categories:
Research projects (e.g. undergraduate or postgraduate dissertation)
Student veterinary nurse case reflection
Registered veterinary nurse case reflection

Which category from the above you wish to enter
Whether you wish to present verbally, or as a poster only

All abstracts – research projects and case reflections
The abstract must be submitted by the presenting author
Abstracts must be written in UK English
Please refer to BVNA’s Guidelines for Abstract Submission for guidance on how to write an abstract, and the information to include
Specific advertising in a commercial capacity is not permitted
The use of copyrighted images or information is not acceptable, unless permission for their use has been granted by the copyright owner
Abstracts will not be edited by the BVNA and you will be responsible for checking your abstract carefully before submission, since it will be reviewed exactly as submitted. Changes post submission will not be accepted
Please specify on the submission form whether you wish to present verbally, or as a poster only
Animal welfare must be of paramount importance to the research/case presented
Patient/owner details (if applicable) must be anonymised
You agree to your abstract being published in the Veterinary Nursing Journal

Research projects only
Ensure all co-authors are listed, including supervisors, and confirm approval by an ethical committee board.
All co-authors must have agreed to the submission of the abstract and approved the content of the abstract submitted to BVNA (and any subsequent revised submissions).  The submitting author will be asked to confirm this.
Abstracts will not be considered if they:
Are of low scientific content
Are irrelevant to clinical nursing practice
Are received after the closing date of Monday 1st August 2022
Do not have ethical approval or are deemed to have caused inappropriate consideration to animal welfare.
Your abstract will be peer-reviewed. Following acceptance by reviewers, research projects and case reflections will be shortlisted for presentation at BVNA Congress 2022.

If selected, your abstract will also be published in the Veterinary Nursing Journal.
All successful applicants will receive free registration to BVNA Congress on Sunday 9th October 2022 and will be able to access a wide variety of lectures and the commercial exhibition. Please note that applicants are required to attend the Research Bites competition where presentations will commence (regardless of if presenting or not).

If selected for presentation, you will be required to submit a PDF file of your poster, and a Powerpoint file of your presentation (if applicable) by Friday 9th September 2022.

If you wish for your poster to be returned to you, you will be responsible for covering the cost of return postage.

Prizes will be awarded in two categories:
Best Poster
Best Presentation
