African American Male Initiative (AAMI) & Latino Male Initiative
Greetings Future Eagle,
Congratulations on your admission to North Carolina Central University! For nearly 110 years, NCCU has proudly graduated thousands of students, and we are excited for you to be part of this great tradition. On behalf of NCCU’s African American Male Initiative, I would like to welcome you to our university. As Director of the program, my goal is to provide Eagle Excellence to all incoming students. Your acceptance recognizes all the hard work and achievements in your academic and personal past. We are honored to have you join the Eagle Family, and we look forward to seeing what you accomplish over the next four years.
As an alumnus of this illustrious institution, I can attest that the next four years of your life will be an unforgettable experience. You will join a dynamic student community in a place of endless opportunities. To add to your experience, we invite you to take part in the Latino male Initaitve (L.M.I) under the Men’s Achievement Center (MAC). Male students selected into the program uphold the legacy of intelligence, integrity, and creativity as they pursue academic excellence. The program is highly selective - only 25 first-year male students are accepted into the program each year.
A.A.M.I. members are required to live in our living-learning community for two years, attend bi-weekly meetings with a designated cohort advisor, attend MAC General Body meetings, and participate in undergraduate research. In addition, A.A.M.I. members complete 20 community service hours each semester, take part in study hall sessions and serve as a positive example for others on campus and in the community.
If you are interested in joining the A.A.M.I. program, please follow the steps below:

It is my sincere hope that you are able to join this award-winning program. If you have any questions or would like additional information, please contact me at rheath1@nccu.ed or 919-530-6064. Welcome to the Eagle Family! We look forward to seeing you soar.
