Hello Parents! We are building a database of parents in our IAE community who are interested in supporting our students in exploring career options, different professional paths they can pursue, understand types of skills they will need etc.
We are creating an open network of our parents and graduate alumni whose businesses and companies may be looking to mentor, hire summer interns to connect our students to opportunities (both paid and unpaid) or know of organizations that need help with research projects and community initiatives. Ms. Beloitti our enrichment coordinator who offers career shadow enrichments also needs more parents / companies interested in formally hosting students to learn by shadowing parent professionals at work in the future.
This questionnaire is designed to capture your interest in sharing your experiences and network. If you are interested in being part of the of this network, please answer the questions below.
Our goal is to begin incorporating more parent panels in our PTIA meetings or ideally after school and invite our students to attend ones of interest over the next few months and build from there. We launched the first event, a career panel on May 31st 2022 at IAE. Future programs will be also be open to all students across IA campuses.
Parents that would like to help work on the Career Explorations Committee to organize and plan future panels and events for students may indicate that below as well.
* I will be hosting a zoom call on Monday Nov 7th at 8pm - 9pm to kick off and brainstorm with interested parents so sign up today and I will send a link by Monday am.
Our target for our next parent panel is for Tuesday November 29th as our focus of our Monthly PTIA meeting and we will invite students to attend virtually to start the conversation this semester.
Otherwise, you can just offer to be a featured panelist, serve as a mentor or speaker at a career workshop targeted to our students as the committee gets plans and ideas organized we will reach out to you.
Thank you
Kaushika Patel,
Chair of Career Explorations Initiative
President, on behalf of the PTIA Board
