Godly Play with Children in Middle & Late Childhood
You received this survey because you indicated on our Pandemic Response Survey (Jan. 2021) that you use Godly Play with children in early, middle, and late childhood.

We are always glad to hear when congregations/schools are using Godly Play with children in middle and late childhood (children aged 6 and up). We are curious how you have been able to grow your program with these older children. For example, did you have to make any changes  or adapt the approach in any way as the children grew older? Did you build a second room? Add more stories? Get more training? What were the joys? What were the challenges and how did you overcome them?

As the Godly Play Foundation seeks to find new and better ways to support practitioners, your wisdom will be very valuable. Thanks in advance for your help!

Please note: any information collected from this survey will remain confidential. Should any of the information be shared publicly (i.e. part of a training or publication) the names of both the respondents and their ministry location will remain anonymous. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to me.

If you have more than one Godly Play Room, how do you group the children? For example, are the rooms "closely graded" such as a room for each age group, or are they grouped in some other way? For example, one church I know has two Godly Play rooms: one for children aged 3-7, a second for children aged 8-13. However this can change when the population shifts, i.e. more children in the younger group versus the older group, etc.
If you have just one room for all ages, please describe how you help the older children stay engaged.
Have you and other volunteers attended any formal Godly Play Training, for example a Core Training or other workshop led by a Godly Play Foundation Trainer.
Please describe any adaptations you made as the children moved from early childhood into middle and then late childhood. For example, did you build a second room? Did you add more enrichment and extension stories? Did you add more print material or more sophisticated art response materials? Did you attend more Godly Play Foundation training?
What joys have you experienced using this program with children in middle and late childhood?
What challenges have you experienced using Godly Play with children in middle and late childhood? How did you overcome them?
What else would you like us to know? Do you have a favorite story you would like to share?
