Abstract XI PACRC
Abstracts should be of papers not presented in previous congresses. Abstracts may be submitted in Spanish, English or Portuguese.

Please follow next instructions:

Title
Maximum 20 words

Authors
For each author, provide the full name, as it will appear in the abstracts book. Indicate if he/she is a student, with his/her corresponding level. The first author will be the speaker. In case the first author is not the speaker, mark with an * when entering the name of the first author.

Institutional affiliation
Include the full name of each author and the institution to which he/she belongs, including dependency (area, institute, laboratory, etc). Include the e-mail address of all authors.

Abstract
Clearly mention the objective, methodology, relevant results and main conclusion of the study, without exceeding 2000 characters. Omit bibliographic citations. Species names with an "i" before and after to indicate that they are in italics. For units of measurement use the International System of Measurement (SI).

Key words
Include at the end of abstract three keywords, different from those in the title.

PRESENTATION FORMAT:
Oral presentations. Since the oral presentations will be continuous, there will be no dead time between presentations, so the presentations will follow the established order and the moderator will keep the time for presentations and questions. Presenters will have 15 min in total, 12 min for the presentation and 3 min for questions.
Posters: Maximum size 0.9 x 1.2 m (width x height, portrait mode), with letters legible at a distance of at least 2 m (6 ft.). It is recommended to use as much visual information as possible and keep text to a minimum.

A person may only be first author on one oral presentation and one poster during the congress.

THEMATIC SESSIONS

Species, populations and ecology. Descriptive studies such as range extension, species description, studies on population and community changes, and interactions between species or with environmental variables.

Physiology and molecular biology. Studies generally with a strong laboratory component, focused on describing physiological processes, as well as those focused on nucleic acids and proteins. Included in this session are studies on light harvesting, sclerochronology and environmental records.

Functions, ecosystem services and management (including restoration). Studies focused on the environmental services provided by reefs, on reef functioning, and on the use and protection of environmental services, including restoration measures of species and services. This includes studies on fisheries, resilience, connectivity, marine protected areas (MPAs) and other protection tools (social and regulatory framework).

Impacts, pollution and climate change. Studies on pollution and its effects on reefs, either by anthropogenic or natural processes, including those studies on climate change and its effects on reefs (e.g. bleaching, disease and acidification).

Science communication and environmental education. Studies and works with a focus on creating or reinforcing the science-society link. These range from dissemination actions in popular magazines to activities with children, workshops with communities, workshops in schools, etc.

GIS and new reef research techniques. The development of new tools allows studies to be carried out with different approaches or with novel elements, either methodologically or with the use of equipment. Examples include sound monitoring, use of drones or remotely operated submersible vehicles, among others. Studies involving Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are included here.
