Thank you for applying to be a candidate for service on the Engage Winona Board of Directors! Before filling out this application, take a look at the Engage Winona Board of Directors Commitment and Expectations.

Process for joining the board (general overview):
  • We will contact you to confirm receipt of your application.
  • If there are spots available on the board, we will contact you and get together with you for a short meeting to discuss your interest in board service.
  • The board will evaluate your candidacy and may invite you to join the board, or invite you to be involved in a different way.
  • If you are invited to join the board, you will attend a meeting as a guest. The board chair will follow up with you to confirm your interest in joining.
  • Once you confirm your board membership, an orientation will be scheduled. This will train you on the basics of board leadership. You will also be paired with a board buddy as a connection point during your first year on the board!

Qualities and personal style
Fundraising - Among other responsibilities, board members play a key role in raising funds for our organization. It is an expectation of board service that you will introduce people in your sphere of influence to our work and invite them to know and do more - as participants, volunteers, board members, and as donors. We commit to providing you with the information and tools necessary for you to be a vocal and visible ambassador for our work. As a board member, you are a cheerleader and promoter for our good work in the community. Can you speak to your level of comfort with this expectation?
Time - Board service is a true commitment of time and energy. We estimate that board service is a commitment of 3-5 hours per month. Do you have any concerns about this time commitment? How will you manage the demands on your time?
How did you hear about the opportunity for board service?
If you don't become a member of the Board, are you interested in other opportunities to be involved and assist our organization?
