Human Factors in Car-following Models

This research is being conducted by Faiza Khan, a graduate student at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, supervised by Dr. Mbakisya A. Onyango Professor in Civil engineering department, Dr. Mina Sartipi Guerry Professor at the computer science department, at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and Dr. Osama A. Osman Sr. Transportation Engineer and Project Manager at Leidos.

This research project has been approved by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's Institutional Review Board.

Purpose of Study:
We are working to develop a realistic car-following model that will incorporate Human Elements in car-following models. The goal is to utilize theories of human psychology to understand decision making process of a driver in different driving scenarios and utilize that to construct a more realistic car-following model.
