As part of the local House program, U11 - U16 players can participate in a more challenging competitive division that is collectively know as the top Tier. To be named to this roster, players must attend evaluation sessions where they will be assessed on their technical and tactical skills, as well as on their ability to receive and respond to coach feedback. At KYSA, we utilize the expertise of the Whitecaps Okanagan Centre staff through our technical partnership to run our evaluation sessions. To qualify for a KYSA Tier A team, a player must:
~ Be born between the years 2009 and 2004
~ Reside within the KYSA boundaries (Downtown, Glenmore, North Glenmore and Dilworth areas) OR be a current KYSA player
Advanced players born in the year 2010 may attend these sessions and be selected as an early intake if their are assessed to be physically, mentally and socially able to compete with older players - roster spots are not reserved for 2009 players; all attendees have an equal chance of being named to the team.
The Fall tryout schedule is listed below. Please ensure that you correctly mark down all session dates as they are not consistent times over the 3 weekends (to hopefully accommodate a player that may have a conflict). Players are encouraged to attend all 3, and we strong recommend attending a minimum of 2 sessions to be properly assessed. If your child can only attend 1 session because of a conflict, we will do our best to assess him/her fairly based on the limited data available.
There is a $10 TOTAL cost due to attend the sessions which is due at the first session when the player checks in. Please submit cash or cheque (payable to KYSA) as payment. Rosters will be posted on the KYSA website after Oct 20th at the end of the Fall season. KYSA reserves the right to hold 2-5 roster spots open and MAY hold additional sessions in the Spring to finalize rosters.
