Identify the species of each numbered warbler wing.

Spring is here and we are on the edge of our seats, desperately waiting for the warblers to arrive. While every bird is unique and beautiful in its own way, warblers are undeniably at the top of most people’s list of favorites. But as many know, depending on the timing of arrival and leaf-out, these little gems can be extremely difficult to see whole. As leaves begin to fill out, we often see warbler “pieces”; a tail there, a wing here, a face peeking out over there. But even when we don’t get to see the bird in its entirety, there are often distinguishing factors that can lead to a correct identification. Here we present eight warbler wings that are fairly unique to each species. To make this a little more challenging (after you’ve identified the species) try aging and sexing each bird.
