Who:  Teen girls and gender expansive youth.  7th - 12th grade with alopecia areata.

  • In this workshop, participants will explore the complex ways in which alopecia areata impacts their daily lives. Participants will collaborate to create risograph prints with words and images that give voice to their personal experiences, and in doing so, provide validation, hope, and inspiration to others in the alopecia areata community.  

  • Each participant will take home 15 risograph-printed signs, adorned with block stamp designs.  

  • Risograph-prints will be showcased at NAAF's 2nd Annual Walk for Alopecia in San Francisco, September 28, 2024. We hope you will join us at the Walk!

Participant’s parent is asked to acknowledge and assume risks and waive claims they might have in the event of injury or other loss. 

Description of Services: The purpose of the Teen Girls:  Voices of alopecia areata workshop is to offer education and support to help teen girls who have been diagnosed with alopecia areata. The program will be facilitated through Bethany Kaylor of Girls Garage. The facilitator(s) found that when working in groups, teens gain support from others who are experiencing similar situations or who have adjusted well after experiencing a similar situation in the past. 

Confidentiality: Please understand that the program may be described in written publications but that no information will be provided that could identify any individual participants in the program. 

I, Parent of minor child (hereinafter “Parent”), hereby consent for my child to participate in the Teen Girls:  Voices of alopecia areata workshop for teen girls with alopecia areata. 

I, Parent, understand that in order to encourage children to participate actively, parents and outside observers will not be allowed to attend. I also understand that participation in the group is completely voluntary, and confidentiality is addressed and respected. 

I, Parent, have read, understand and fully agree to the terms of this Consent Form.
