Public Charge Workshops Survey
This survey is intended to assess interest in implementation of Seattle-based community education workshops by organizations as part of what we are calling "Rapid Response" efforts. Please submit your responses by January 17, 2020. We will reach out to respondents by January 31, 2019 regarding next steps.

GOAL: To accurately inform immigrant and refugee community members in a timely manner about new developments related to the issue of public charge, so they may be able to make informed decisions about their and their family's access to public benefits.

WHAT: Informational community workshops for 25-50 people to raise awareness about public charge rule changes. Workshops must be held in Seattle.

WHEN: Soon after public charge rule changes go into effect or other major developments on this issue are announced. The post-survey timeline will be dependent on the timing of these announcements.

AUDIENCE: Immigrants and refugees who will be impacted by public charge rule changes. This includes residents currently receiving any form of a public benefit and their family members.

WHO: Community-based organizations (CBOs) that are able to quickly organize workshops within a short period of time. CBOs will be responsible for providing a venue, recruiting participants, and providing interpreters. OIRA can provide experts to make presentations and answer questions from attendees. If organizations have legal staff, they may do the presentation themselves using a curriculum provided by OIRA.

STIPEND: A stipend will be available to CBOs to reimburse them for organizing the workshops and/or delivering presentations.
