ASA 2021 40th Annual Youth Empowerment Conference
University, Community College, and High School Students from across Arizona are given an opportunity to learn and work on issues impacting Higher Education at the Arizona Students’ Association's 40th Annual Youth Empowerment Conference.  This is a 3 day conference from April 9-12, 2021 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday).  On the first day students will begin the conference by getting a history lesson on ASA, hearing guest speakers who are alumni of ASA speak about their experience in the organization, and breaking out into different trainings that include a variety of issues in Higher Education.  On Sunday, students will be educated on issues impacting higher education from higher education funding, voter policy, and the implications that have occurred due to Arizona funding and policy.  Lastly on Monday students will have the option to go down to the capitol and meet their representatives to talk about policy involving higher education.

"For over 40 years, ASA has been the voice of Arizona students by focusing on grassroots organizing, registering students to vote, lobbying for affordable higher education, and training and developing student leaders.

In the 1970’s, students in Arizona were working to get more of a voice on campus and more control over their education.  To accomplish those objectives, the student body presidents of NAU, ASU, and UA established the Arizona Students’ Association in July of 1974.  They knew they would be much more effective and powerful if they worked together, so alas a statewide lobbying association was born."
