The Gym Dandies are traveling to Washington, DC to ride in the Cherry Blossom Parade on April 15th!

We will be traveling by Custom Coach and Limousine bus, leaving Scarborough on Friday, April 14th and returning on Monday, April 16th. The group will be staying at the Home 2 Suites by Hilton in Silver Springs, MD for 3 nights. Each hotel suite can accommodate a maximum of 4 people (1 queen sized bed and 1 pull out couch).

Every Gym Dandy riding in the parade MUST have a seat on the bus. Please note that the hotel is located outside of the city and the group will be traveling by bus to/from DC. Families who choose to drive separately but would like to use the bus transportation MUST have a seat on the bus.

The deadline to sign up is FRIDAY, JANUARY 13TH and a deposit of $50 per person is due by FRIDAY, JANUARY 13TH to reserve your spot. Bring your deposit to Gym Dandies practice. Checks are preferred.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENT

The following are the requirements for participating in the parade (20” unicycle or giraffe):

Small Unicycle (20”): (1) Can consistently mount unicycle unassisted (six times in a row), (2) Can perform eight tight figure 8’s, and (3) Can ride slowly in formation

Giraffe Unicycle: (1) Must be able to maintain stationary position for 20 repetitions, (2) Can ride backwards, (3) Can perform eight tight figure 8’s (4) Can ride slowly in formation

(Note: These requirements must be met by those registered by January 27, 2023 or have a reasonable expectation of meeting the minimum requirement on the 20” unicycle by the parade date. Mr. Sloatman and Janoah will make this determination/exception on an individual basis for those who are not quite ready by January 27. Remember: Practice makes everything possible.

GUIDELINES FOR PARTICIPATION

Age/Grade Level: (1) Participants must be current members (2022-23 school year), 4th grade or above and (2) Must maintain continuous membership in Gym Dandies through 2022-23 school year.

Participants Must: (1) Attend all “Gym Dandies” practice sessions (Flexibility for MS and HS Gym Dandies), (2) Participate in all required Gym Dandies events, (3) Attend all Cherry Blossom Festival Parade practice sessions during the months of March-April. Two sessions may be scheduled per week in April, Follow Gym Dandies behavior guidelines.

Gym Dandies registered for this event may attend multiple practice sessions each week to meet requirements for 20” or Giraffe unicycle.
