Foray at Orland Grassland on Wednesday September 6, 2023 (9:00 AM–12:00 PM)
Join Plants of Concern staff at Orland Grassland on Wednesday September 6, to monitor rare species! We'll meet from 9 am to 12 pm. In 2003, Orland Grassland was designated a Land and Water Reserve by the Illinois Nature Preserves Commision. Both new and experienced monitors are welcome to help monitor during this foray.

Plants of Concern staff will email those who register to confirm the meeting location in advance of the foray.

What should you expect? Everyone who attends a field monitoring training or foray should have completed the Plants of Concern online training in advance. While you don't have to bring any supplies (other than yourself!) to this training, you can also prepare by reviewing the Plants of Concern How-To monitoring page on the Plants of Concern website. Please download the Plants of Concern App prior to the foray.

Come prepared! Monitoring takes place outdoors. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing for the weather, and comfortable outdoor shoes, that you don't mind potentially getting dirty. Be prepared to stand for at least two hours and to work around insects and potentially hazardous plants, including poison ivy. Plan to bring water.
