AWANA Club Information 2023-2024
AWANA --  "Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed"     2 Timothy 2:15, Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

What is Awana?
Awana at Calvary is a fun and meaningful way for kids and parents to grow in their love and knowledge of God. Awana centers around a Wednesday evening club where kids play games, memorize Scripture, and are discipled by a trained, caring team of staff and volunteers. But the learning does not stop there. Throughout each week, kids and parents work together to learn and study the Bible. At Awana we have a lot of fun. Colorful books, enthusiastic games, and exciting awards make Calvary Baptist Awana a highlight of the week as kids learn truths from God's Word that stick for a lifetime.

Awana is held Wednesday nights, from 6:30-8:00pm, starting September 13 and concluding on May 1 for the Awards Ceremony. Club nights will not be held on the following dates:
          November 22 (Thanksgiving); December 13, 20, 27, January 3 (Christmas); March 27 (Spring Break)

The following clubs are offered:
**Cubbies - Three years old (as of September 13) through TK (Transitional Kindergarten); must be potty trained
**Sparks - Kindergarten (5 years old as of September 13) through 2nd grade
**T&T (Truth & Training) - 3rd grade through 6th grade

FEES:  Dues: $35;  All Handbooks: $15; Cubbies/Sparks Uniforms: $15;  T&T Uniforms: $18;  Sparks Book Bags: $8

If new to the Cubbies or Sparks or T&T Club, the entrance flyer must be completed before uniform and handbook are given to the clubber. However, these items must be paid for in advance and held by the club director until the flyer is completed.

AWARDS: Quarterly attendance awards are given to students with no more than two absences per quarter. All award ribbons and trophies are included in the annual dues except for the major awards: Timothy, Meritorious, and Citation.

HANDBOOK SECTIONS: Cubbies and T&T clubbers track together through their books, working on the assigned lesson. Sparks clubbers should try to complete at least two sections each week to finish the book in one year; most sections must be done in order, and a section must be recited all at once with only two "helps" of any kind.  For all clubbers, we strongly recommend that verses be memorized at home so that they can be recited upon arrival at club without further study.  If a verse is memorized for the first time during a club night, it may not be signed off until it is successfully recited again on the next club night.

ATTIRE FOR GAMES: Sparks and T&T clubbers must wear long pants and tennis shoes for game time due to possible falls on the asphalt game circle.

CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT: Parents must sign in their children no later than 6:30pm.  Cubbies must be signed out promptly at 7:50pm and Sparks and T&T clubbers at 8:00 pm.  All clubbers will be released only to a parent or guardian as authorized on the registration form.

HEALTH: A child that has a fever and/or sneezing, coughing, or a runny nose should remain at home for the sake of others.

PARENTAL HELP:  AWANA leaders are privileged to work with the children on their spiritual development. However, the success of Bible verse memorization depends on the parents' assistance and encouragement. Review is essential. Parents must spend a few minutes most days to review and discuss the verses and their application in life with their child. Praying about the verse with their child is highly recommended.
