Father Andres Arango, a transformative Pastor at the St. Gregory Catholic church in Phoenix, AZ, was recently asked to resign from his post by the Phoenix Diocese. His resignation was requested because he used the word "We" instead of "I" during the baptisms he performed. Based on church doctrine, this action invalidated all of these baptisms. Rather than giving Father Andres the opportunity to stay at St. Gregory and rectify the situation, he is being removed from a community that loves and cares for him.

In addition to being a spiritual leader for hundreds of parishioners, Father Andres has positively impacted the lives of numerous children at St. Gregory Catholic School. He taught them the meaning of faith, community and fellowship. As part of his pastoral leadership, Father Andres reinvigorated the church community by renovating its facilities, giving parishioners and faith seekers a spiritual home that is open to all.

Furthermore, Catholics are taught that God forgives, is all loving, and shows compassion to everyone. It is important that the Phoenix Diocese emphasizes these virtues and shows its faithful what it truly means to be Catholic.

Padre Andres Arango, un Pastor transformativo en la Iglesia Católica San Gregorio en Phoenix, Arizona, recientemente fue pedido que resignara de su posición por la Diócesis de Phoenix. Le pidieron su resignación porque usó la palabra “nosotros” en vez de “yo” durante sus bautizos. Basado en la doctrina de la iglesia, esta acción hace que todos sus bautizos sean inválidos. En vez de darle al Padre Andres la oportunidad de quedarse en San Gregorio y rectificar la situación, lo están quitando de la comunidad que lo quiere y aprecia mucho.

Además de ser el líder espiritual de cientos de feligreses, el Padre Andres ha tenido un impacto positivo en las vidas de estudiantes de la escuela Católica de San Gregorio. Él les ha enseñado el significado de la fe, comunidad, y hermandando.  Como parte de su liderazgo como pastor, el Padre Andres ha revitalizado la comunidad de la iglesia al renovar las instalaciones, dando a feligreses y buscadores de fe una casa espiritual con puertas abiertas para todos.

 A los Católicos se les enseña que Dios perdona, ama y demuestra compasión a todos. Es importante que la Diócesis de Phoenix también le de énfasis a estas virtudes y demuestre a sus seguidores lo que significa ser Catolico.
