Dear Parents:
May Elementary is pleased to announce an opportunity for preschool aged children for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year to attend as a Typical Peer. Our school will have two early childhood programs for our students with special education services requiring an IEP; The Early Childhood Inclusion (ECI) and Kids Integrated Delivery of Service (KIDS). This opportunity will enable your child to receive valuable preschool instruction, as well as, provide the students with disabilities the opportunity to interact with age appropriate role models. The KIDS program is already full and no longer available.
ECI will be offered Monday through Thursday, with two separate sessions; a morning session (9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.) and an afternoon session (12:50p.m. to 3:21p.m.). There are 16-20 students in each of the sessions (8 with IEP’s and 8-12 general education peers). If your child is a typical peer in this program, he/she will only attend one session a day. Parents will be required to transport their child to and from school.
We are looking for typical, developing peers that are 4 years old, who demonstrate age-appropriate language (this includes clear speech) and behavior. The children must be toilet trained, cannot have an IEP, and must have demonstrated that they are able to be away from home for their school day.
Enrollment is extremely limited. Following the receipt of your application, you will be contacted, regardless of outcome within a week. If selected, you will be required to complete the online registration and provide current shot records and original birth certificate for your child, as well as, your proof of address and picture ID.
If you are interested in having the opportunity for your child to participate as a typical peer in one of these preschool programs, please complete this Google Form as soon as possible.
If you have any questions, please contact the office at 702-799-4690. Thank you.
