Windsor Charter Academy invests in AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), an instructional framework that emphasizes and supports research-based teaching practices, ongoing professional development, and instructional leadership. AVID utilizes systems and structures to collect and monitor data to create a school culture that promotes high expectations for teachers and students. AVID’s mission of closing the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college readiness supports our WCA mission of ensuring students are able to access our K-8 Core Knowledge and our rigorous 9-12 early college high school curricula. Teachers provide instruction that is inquiry-based and student-centered, which increases levels of teacher effectiveness and inspires students to take control over their own learning.

We invite you to join us at our MS AVID Showcase to learn more about AVID and to see AVID in action in our middle school classrooms.  It is important to attend the AVID introduction prior to classroom visits.  We ask that those who wish to attend are present for the AVID Introduction and at least one round of classroom visits.
