WHA Introduction to Coaching Module
WHA is pleased to be able to announce a coach development module aimed at introducing Foundation level coaches to coaching hockey. The purpose of the Introduction to Coach module is to provide coaches a basic understanding of how and what is important to coach, when working with players in the Foundation space (Year 1-6). The module will be delivered in 3 sessions covering the following topics:

Session 1 (Sunday 14th March 2 - 4PM) – Introduction to coaching
Session 2 (Sunday 28th March 2 - 4PM) – Sport specific content including How to Hockey 101 module
Session 3 (In season date TBC) – Reflective practice and review

In 2021, we will limit the intake to this module as a pilot to ensure a quality experience is had and use as an opportunity to learn from the participants experiences and make modifications, if required for 2022. This module will form part of the coach development opportunities included in the WHA Coach Development Framework which is currently being developed and being rolled out in 2022.

Registrations are open to all coaches who have less than one-year coaching experience and will be coaching a primary team in 2021 for either a school or club. You will also need to be endorsed by your club or school. Part of our strategic goal is to increase the number of female coaches coaching at all levels, so preference will be shown to females who meet the criteria.

All sessions will be held at the National Hockey Stadium

Applications close 5pm Friday 5th March with acceptance emails sent on Monday 8th March
