Toronto Zine Library Volunteer Form
Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering with the Toronto Zine Library (TZL)!

We are an all volunteer organisation and it's people like you that run this library and keep it open. Volunteering with TZL can take on many forms. We need help keeping the library open (staffing the space), updating and maintaining the catalogue, helping with public events and workshops, and with our public communications (social media, graphic design).

Please fill out this form, and we'll be in touch as soon as we can to meet and provide training. If you have any questions or concerns with this form, contact us at torontozinelibrary@gmail.com

Note: We follow the TRANZAC COVID policy.
While masking is no longer required at the TRANZAC, we recommend visitors continue to mask in the library, and require volunteers to wear masks during staffed hours.

Volunteer Interests
There are various ways you can volunteer with the Toronto Zine Library. All roles require minimal training, which is done in-person in the library space (exceptions only for remote volunteering tasks).
  • Staffed Hours - currently we hold open hours twice a week, Tuesdays 6-8pm and Fridays 6-8pm. To keep the space accessible, we depend on volunteer commitment to "staff" the library for open hours. With more volunteers signing up for staffed hours, the more time we can stay open to visitors.
  • Cataloguing Zines - there are so many zines to catalogue! You can catalogue at the library, or remotely from home. You would require a computer and internet access, and ideally a scanner (or phone scanner app).
  • Events Volunteering - TZL events can include fairs, workshops, zine talks and fundraisers and different events will have different volunteering needs. If you're interested in low-capacity and minimal-commitment volunteering, sign-up as an events volunteer and we'll reach out for assistance only when there's events.
  • Social Media - we currently maintain an Instagram, Twitter and Facebook presence. Volunteering for social media would require access to internet and computer/phone, but can be done remotely if needed. Our social media depends on content creation, sharing community information, and responding to communications.
  • Graphic Design - we could use some help with sprucing up our social media and website, as well as creating posters and signs for the library space and for events!
  • Other - do you have some amazing idea for the space and want to volunteer to bring the idea to fruition? Let us know!
