Course Vision, Focus, and Important Information

Course Vision & Focus
The vision for Student Leadership is to educate students to embrace leadership skills and attributes in a group setting that contains dedicated, hardworking, life-long learners who seek to challenge themselves in new ways. Students should also seek to create new and exciting opportunities with the student body in mind. Student Leadership is responsible for the many school-related functions throughout the school year. These include, but are not limited to: Homecoming, blood drives, Charity week, charity and community service activities, Mr. Mott Contest, and club/class activities. Student Leadership works in partnership with Student Council. Students learn leadership skills that include: team building, problem solving skills, planning, time management, critical decision making, and motivational strategies.

Important Information
This application does not guarantee you admission into the class. If this application shows you as a strong candidate, you will be given the opportunity to serve as a student leader in the course. Please be honest, thorough and clear in your responses to the items on this application. The application MUST be completed in order to be considered for the course. All leadership students do a personal project that pursues their passion. These projects focus on raising awareness, organizing an event, or creating a positive change in: Waterford Mott, Waterford School District, Waterford Township, or Oakland County. Describe at least one new idea/event/activity you would possibly do in Student Leadership for this? *

Orange- Energetic, spontaneous, and charming. You tend to be action-oriented and are comfortable taking risks. You probably also tend to be competitive and seek out adventures with opportunities to push the boundaries. Living in the moment and enjoying an adaptable time schedule are important to you.

Thinking outside the box is a real strength. You also have an extreme need to prove to others why you are right.

Blue- Empathetic, compassionate, and cooperative. Very social people. You value relationships and harmony. Genuine kindness, sincerity, and compassion are important to you. You enjoy opportunities to work with others and collaborate and any opportunity to develop a connection.

Operations- Figures out the logistics to an event from start to finish. Assign tasks to other committees and check-in with them to make sure they are completing deadlines.

PR (Public Relations)- Creating banners, flyers, TV announcement slides, and making announcements during lunches for events.

Communications- Contacting businesses, teachers, or other students for events. Making room reservations and passes for students. Writing thank you letters to volunteers

Purchasing- *Preferably have a drivers license and a car* Comparing prices for items needed for an event. Purchasing items online or in store. Keeps a record of finances. Makes Tshirts for the class. Run all ticket sales at lunches and is responsible for keeping cash box safe and writing receipts to students.

Historian/States/Regionals- Takes pictures of all the events. Keeps the google drive folder organized. Creates binders for MASC/MAHS conferences. Applies for awards for the State conference. Presents at Regional conference and possibly States conference.
