About:
The purpose of VIGH SAC is to bring together diverse students interested in global health with the goal of fostering cross-disciplinary student networking and collaboration. SAC is comprised of graduate and undergraduate students from various schools across the university.
SAC members work to connect students to global health experiences and knowledge through general events and planning our two big events: the Global Health Symposium and Global Health Case Competition. Being on SAC provides a fantastic opportunity to design global health events, such as the case competition, symposium, and monthly GBMs, and to build your leadership skills. There are three SAC teams, each responsible for one of the following:
- Global Health Alliance (GHA), which is a coalition of global health student organizations across campus that host events such as speaker series or community-building activities. The goal is to allow students who are interested in global health to network and learn from each other and from professionals such as guest speakers.
- Global Health Case Competition (GHCC), which is held in the spring (usually February) and allows students from across the university participate in multidisciplinary, multi-school teams to tackle a real-life global health case, working together to develop an innovative solution.
- Global Health Symposium (GHS), which is held in the spring (usually April) and allows Vanderbilt community members to showcase their research or project in global, public health and related fields.
EXECUTIVE POSITIONS
VIGH SAC Co-Chairs (Co-Presidents)
- Oversees the VIGH SAC Executive Board (which oversees the GHA, GHCC, and GHS branches); manages organization administration and operations; leads monthly meetings with executive board.
Global Health Alliance (GHA) Co-Chairs- Serves on the VIGH SAC Executive Board. Leading the planning of guest speaker events, SAC GBMs, and other events (de-stress, trivia, etc.).
Global Health Case Competition (GHCC) Co-Chairs- Serves on the VIGH SAC Executive Board. Leads the planning of the Global Health Case Competition.
Global Health Symposium (GHS) Co-Chairs
- Serves on the VIGH SAC Executive Board. Leads the planning of the Global Health Symposium.
Secretary- Serves on the VIGH SAC Executive Board. Manages organization-wide communication and roster, takes meeting notes, promotes VIGH SAC events on VIGH SAC's Instagram/Facebook page.
Treasurer
- Serves on the VIGH SAC Executive Board. Manages organization-wide finances and overall budget as well as budget requests from GHA, GHCC, and GHS.
COMMITTEE POSITIONS
Global Health Alliance (GHA) Committee Member- Assists the GHA Co-Chairs in speaker series planning, event planning, marketing, and/or co-sponsorships with other organizations. Opportunities for team lead positions.
Global Health Case Competition (GHCC) Committee Member- Serve on one of the GHCC subcommittees (Case Writing, Marketing & Sponsorship, Coordination & Logistics). Opportunities for team lead positions.
Global Health Symposium (GHS) Committee Member- Serves on one of the GHS subcommittees (Event Logistics, Abstract Submission Review, Sponsorship, Publicity). Opportunities for team lead positions.
