2021-22 MEMBER INFORMATION/EDUCATION  
NOTE: Most public and member meetings occur Sept, Oct, Nov, Jan, Feb, March & April.  May is our Local Annual Convention. We may start the fall with Zoom meetings and then, if able, transition some meetings to “in person.”
 ACTION COMMITTEE. Action (Debbie Aiona, action@lwvpdx.org): Informational/educational presentations & discussions with elected officials, agency & nonprofit leaders (a pathway to get involved), usually 1:30-3:30 pm, 4th Friday. 2021-22 LWVPDX VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
To volunteer, consider checking (X) one or two areas of involvement, in which you have or would like to learn skills. Please feel free to contact the League member listed to learn if this volunteer opportunity would be a good fit for you. You can also look for volunteer opportunities in the monthly newsletter, "The Voter." Thank you for considering what you could do to help advance the League's mission of empowering voters and defending democracy.
CORE MISSION COMMITTEES: ACTION, CIVIC EDUCATION, VOTER SERVICE
These committees carry out the work of the League to educate the public about elections and policy issues and to advocate for better communities.
ACTION COMMITTEE (Debbie Aiona, action@lwvpdx.org): Track an issue of interest to you and of importance to the community. Continuing Action areas:

CIVIC EDUCATION COMMITTEE (Nancy Donovan, civiced@lwvpdx.org): Plan or help host monthly public panel presentations on a policy topic - often held the 2nd Tues. evening. Organize special meetings, including a Fall Civic Education Program, Winter Program Planning, the Media Lunch, and Spring Local Convention.
CIVIC EDUCATION INTEREST GROUPS - Members gather in the League name, around an area of interest for learning and collaboration, prospective study, or future advocacy. Open to all members.
DISCUSSION UNIT VOLUNTEERS (Judy Froemke, Units@lwvpdx.org)  Discussion Units meet once a month in Sept, Oct, Nov, Jan, Feb, Mar, and Apr. Each group has a leader and notetaker.
VOTER SERVICE COMMITTEE (Chris Cobey, voterservice@lwvpdx.org). The next big election in Oregon is the Primary Election of May 17, 2022. League activity is March-May 2022. Training provided.
SUPPORTIVE SERVICES COMMITTEES (COMMUNICATIONS, DEVELOPMENT, MEMBERSHIP/VOLUNTEER, OFFICE HELP)
These committees support the work of the League by providing the publicity, funding, services and people to carry out our core mission.
