1. Sunday Group Leader
Description:

This is a key role in the GHBC Student Ministry. Individuals who hold this role are assigned an age group of students to oversee. Primarily these volunteers work to engage their assigned age group on a weekly basis, ensure that all students of their age group are connected with the group as a whole, and intentionally work to get students connected with a midweek homegroup.

Requirements:

-> Sunday Small Group Leaders are required to be GHBC church members, who are actively engaged with the corporate body of Christ, and in good standing with GHBC.

-> All new leaders are required to serve under an existing Sunday Group leader in a "non-teaching" role for a period determined by the student ministry staff.

-> Consistent in attendance (9:30am - Sundays)

2. Home Group Host
Description:

The Great Hills Student Ministry recently moved to a “home group” based ministry model. Meaning, students meet in host homes around the city one night a week to further discuss the biblical passage that was taught the previous Sunday. There are high school specific groups and middle school specific groups. Mixed genders. The Home Group Host simply opens their home, as a meeting location, for a once a week student ministry Bible Study (Usually about 2 hours).

Requirements:

-> Home Group Hosts are required to be GHBC church members, who are actively engaged with the corporate body of Christ, and in good standing with GHBC.

-> Home Group Hosts must be willing to open their home for a student ministry Bible study one evening a week.

-> Home Group Hosts are not required to facilitate small group discussions, but are encouraged to interact with students and be a part of the group.

3. Home Group Bible Study Leader
Description:

The intent of the home group is to foster biblical community within the student ministry, and to encourage students to live gospel-centered lives in their local communities. Each week students gather in Host Homes (mentioned above) all over the city to review the biblical teaching from the previous Sunday, and to discuss how to put these truths into action here and now. The Home Group Bible Study Leader acts as a facilitator of these discussions.

Requirements:

-> Home Group Bible Study Leaders are required to be GHBC church members, who are actively engaged with the corporate body of Christ, and in good standing with GHBC.

-> Home Group Bible Study Leaders must be willing to lead a student ministry Bible study one evening a week.

-> Home Group Bible Study Leaders are not required to be a Home Group Host. Although these roles often go together, it is not a requirement.

-> All new leaders are required to serve under an existing Home Group Bible Study Leader in a "non-teaching" role for a period determined by the student ministry staff.

4. Discipleship Group Leader
Description:

Biblical discipleship is the primary method that God has chosen to grow Christians to look more, and more, like Jesus (Christlikeness). Because Christlikeness is the goal, and discipleship is the method, we desire for everything that we do in the Great Hills Student Ministry be a sort of “on ramp” for students to be discipled. Although biblical discipleship takes on many forms, at Great Hills we believe that discipleship groups are most effective when they are closed groups of 3-5 Christians (1 Leader and those being discipled), gender specific, who meet regularly at a time/location chosen by the group (and, if a group contains teenagers, is agreed upon by parents), with the purpose of growing to look more like Jesus.

Requirements:

-> Discipleship Group Leaders are required to be GHBC church members, who are actively engaged with the corporate body of Christ, and in good standing with GHBC.

-> Discipleship Group Leaders are required to have been discipled themselves.

-> These groups will meet together regularly for around 12-18 months. The amount of time is not necessarily the priority, the spiritual depth of the student is.

5. Event Chaperone
Description:

We are always working to surround our students with godly adult leadership in everything that we do in the Great Hills Student Ministry. The adult chaperones at our events are no exception. Whether at camp, a mission trip, a lock-in, or some other event, this position helps both to oversee the safety of our students, and to model a biblical lifestyle at our events.

Requirements:

-> Adult Chaperones are required to be GHBC church members, who are actively engaged with the corporate body of Christ, and in good standing with GHBC.
