<Virtual Workshop> Designing Place-Based Renewable Energy Infrastructure: Exploring Opportunities and Challenges for the Pacific Northwest Region

Sponsored by the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), the University of Oregon will host the two-part virtual workshop from 12:00 - 2:45 PM PST (Pacific Standard Time) on January 10 and 12, 2023.

The goal of this workshop is to support participating designers, energy professionals, and local stakeholders in developing and visualizing design strategies for the integration of renewable energy infrastructure into existing landscapes and communities. Participants will explore and develop these design strategies through three case studies addressing urban, rural, and coastal communities in the Pacific Northwest. The products of this workshop are intended to aid local communities in understanding the benefits and trade-offs that new renewable energy development will bring, ultimately supporting them in adopting localized renewable energy infrastructure that supports their cultures, landscapes, and long-term visions.

We welcome landscape architects and other design, planning, and engineering professionals, policymakers, and community stakeholders, including representatives of municipalities, regional agencies, utilities, non-profits, businesses, and community groups. Experts outside the Pacific Northwest are welcome to bring their insights to these regional challenges. Full-time participants will be acknowledged in the post-workshop report that PNNL will publish in 2023.

Please sign up for the workshop using the following form. We will contact you shortly with more information including the zoom link invitation.
