Encouraging Student Writing: Creating Stories from Experiences
Date: Wednesday, May 19
Time: 10:00–11:30 a.m. or 6:30–8:00 p.m.
Where: Zoom

This workshop will focus on ways we can use our student’s own experiences as the basis for engaging texts for reading and writing instruction. We’ll look at techniques for transcribing student stories and discuss how they can be adapted and extended to create engaging, student-centered learning materials. (This strategy is appropriate for use with students with lower-level reading and writing skills.)

This workshop will also kick off our annual The Joy of Writing project. The Joy of  Writing is our annual publication of student writing. You can find past publications on the News & Publications page of our website. Heather will give information about this year's publication and tips for how to help your student submit their best work.
