Hint: The total expenses for the 5 days of conference are around $1.500 (depending on flights). 

If you have a net monthly income higher than $2.000, or this is less than 10% of your savings, others probably have a stronger financial need than you.

The scholarship is not to preserve your savings - it is there to make it possible for you come if it's otherwise hard.
