Join UBC NOMAS and our 2022 team for the NOMA Student Design Competition and Conference in Nashville, Tennessee! We would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone interested, no matter your race or field of study.

This year, the team is tasked with designing a Memorial Bridge + Cultural Center in North Nashville. Designing begins in March, continuing throughout the summer, and wrapping up in mid-October. More details regarding the design brief and dates will be addressed in the info session on Saturday, February 19 @ 8 PM PST.

Please take the time to carefully read over the form as there are lots of logistical details. The deadline to submit is Friday, February 25 @10 PM PST.

There will be two roles available depending on commitment and availability:

DESIGNER
+ approx. 3 – 5 hour commitment / week (2 meetings)
+ participates in weekly design meetings
+ contributes to the entire design process (analysis, planning, representing, etc.)
+ provides critical, creative, and analytical reasoning
+ collaborates with others
+ being a strong, supportive team member
+ attendance at the 2022 Conference in Nashville, Tennessee

+ must be a registered UBC NOMAS member
+ must be a registered NOMA National member

ASSISTANT DESIGNER
+ approx. 1 – 2 hour commitment / week
+ called upon when available or needed
+ assist in the production of drawings
+ voluntary attendance to design meetings

– name does not appear on the final project
– cannot use the entire final project in portfolio

+ must be a registered UBC NOMAS member (but NOT a NOMA national member)

To be a member on the Design Team, you must register as a UBC NOMAS member by Thursday, February 24 through the link below. Please note that this requires a $15 CAD annual membership fee which you can send via e-transfer to our treasurer faithyyr@gmail.com.

NOMA National Student Registration

Please note that if you are not already a NOMA National (student) member, you must register by _______, if you intend on being a designer. Please note that this requires a $45 USD membership fee. If you only want to be an assistant designer, then you can ignore this section, but your name will not appear on the final project.

Note: There is a small chance that the in-person conference will occur online this year depending on the pandemic situation but for the time being, it is assumed that the event will be held in person. UBC NOMAS will try our best to subsidize associated costs for participating members, however, nothing is guaranteed as of yet.
