The Abbotsford Arts Council is pleased to announce the open call for Ink & Imagination, an exhibition featuring works of black & white illustration, exhibiting July 6 - 27, 2024 at the Kariton Art Gallery.

The AAC is seeking submissions of black and white illustrated works, using any of the following mediums:

Pencil, Pen, Ink & wash, Charcoal, black/grey felt tip markers.

DEADLINE TO SUBMIT: JUNE 1, 2024

Artists may submit only ONE piece for consideration.

All artworks must have been made within the last TWO years and must not have been exhibited in Kariton Gallery previously.

All artists chosen for exhibition must have a current Abbotsford Arts Council membership. Memberships can be purchased online at https://abbotsfordartscouncil.com/membership-sign-up/

Artwork Requirements

In addition to being created with one or more of the mediums listed above, each piece of artwork must be:
• Titled and clearly marked with the artist's name on the back of the piece.

• Submitted finished and ready to hang: Works on paper must be framed, or mounted to exhibition wood panels. Works on canvas may be unframed, but edges must be finished. All works must be ready to hang, with attached D-rings and hanging wire. For clarification, please email admin@abbotsfordartscouncil.com

• IF CHOSEN for exhibition, works must be delivered to the Kariton Art Gallery by JUNE 29, 2024. The gallery is open for drop-offs Thursday - Saturday from 11am-3pm.

Artists residing in BC are welcome to apply but preference will be given to artist residing in the Fraser Valley. Artists from outside BC will not be considered.

All sales from the exhibition made through the AAC website are subject to a 30% commission. Links to participating artists’ galleries and websites are included to promote artists included in the exhibition.

All artworks must have been made within the last TWO years and must not have been exhibited in Kariton Gallery previously.

By submitting, you are granting permission to the participating organizations to use images of artwork accepted into the exhibition for publicity purposes. Selected artwork will be displayed digitally by the Kariton Gallery via the Abbotsford Arts Council, and images may be shared/re-posted publicly by participating social media pages and websites.

All accepted digital submissions may be kept as a part of the Abbotsford Arts Council’s permanent online collection as a digital record of the participating artists in the 2024 exhibition.
