Truman Public School Survey Questions for fall 2020 opening of school.
The district has been tasked with coming up with 3 options for re-opening this fall.
1) Full-time in school       2)  Hybrid Model (in and out)        3) Full-time Distance learning
We are asking you to help us survey your needs for the fall so that we can better plan for our district.  We also need to get information from you to assist in making individual plans for your children if needed for any one of the scenarios.    The district will be planning for all 3 scenarios as we have been told we could be asked to switch quickly at any time.  We would also like to know about your experience during distance learning, what we did well and what you would need to ensure success for your child if this is the recommended model.
Please use the last question box to comment and add any information you need us to know if they pertain to the questions or other.  Thank you for filling out our survey.

1)   Full Time in school Model:    If we are able to go back to school full time, would you feel comfortable sending your student(s) back to a classroom this fall?   The school would do many things to keep children as far apart as we can in our classrooms and follow all recommended protocol in school and on the bus.)

2)  If you are uncomfortable sending your child back to school your biggest concern would be:
3)  What could the school do or reassurance would you need  to help you feel comfortable having your child be in  school?
4)  The district is researching two types of models  at this time.   These could look different from elementary students to high school students as we know that there are daycare needs with elementary.  Please read below about the two suggested draft models and mark the box which you would be most interested in.          A.  Two (2) Group Hybrid Model :  This Hybrid Model involves separating each grade level  into groups A and B.   GROUP A would meet on Monday’s and Thursday’s and GROUP B would meet on Tuesday’s and Friday’s.    All family members would be a part of the same group so that they would have the same days off.    Wednesday would be used for extra cleaning in the middle of the week and one on one student help as staff would be reporting.    Students will be expected to do distance learning for the expected full day course hours on the 3 days per week that they are not in session and would be required to follow protocol for a minimum of 1 time per day check in as required by Mn. law for attendance.  B. Half  (½ ) Day Model :    In this model the classes are split into GROUP A and GROUP B.  They are transported and attend school DAILY, the groups arrive at different times.   Each group would attend at the school for approximately 3.5 hours per day and then the rest of the day students are expected that the required hours are fulfilled at home to meet state requirements.  It is undetermined if the group times would change during the course of hybrid instruction, this would need to be discussed with parents. EXAMPLE for GROUP A would be like this:   7:45-8:00 - Breakfast and bus arrival; 8:00 -11:00 Class Time;  11:00-11:30 Lunch;  11:30 – bussed home.        EXAMPLE for GROUP B would be like this:   11:30 – Arrival;   11:45 – 12:15 Lunch;   12:20 – 3:20  Class Time;   Breakfast is given to them for the next morning;  3:20 – bussed home.  *These models may not pertain to students that have higher needs, they may be given more in-school time. This would be discussed with parents.   With either of these models,  families can still choose to participate in 100% distance learning.  The district will accommodate.  In both models social distancing and keeping groups together would be followed daily.
