What is SAVY?
The SAVY (Supporting All Volunteers and Youth) Volunteer Team is made up of mental health professionals, teachers and youth workers. This group's focus is supporting GRCB’s volunteers to expand their skills and tools so they can, in turn, support all GRCB youth. GRCB youth have a wide range of needs, identities, and barriers, SAVY members bring their professional skills to help build support systems to meet the specific needs of all GRCB youth.

SAVY meets (virtually) between 4-5 times a year to plan and evaluate volunteer and youth support systems. Time spent designing and creating supports for summer and spring sessions increases in the months leading up to the Spring and Summer GRCB sessions.

SAVY members evaluate and determine where volunteers need additional training, tools, or support, and create supportive materials and training tools for volunteers, and design and facilitate elements of the session volunteer orientation training.

GRCB is seeking both SAVY Team Members and a SAVY Team Leader, descriptions of both roles are below.

SAVY Team Member
GRCB is seeking volunteers with professional experience working with youth in mental health, education, or out-of-school settings to join the Supporting All Volunteers and Youth (SAVY) Team. SAVY Team members collaborate to evaluate and build support tools, trainings, and systems for GRCB volunteers. This is an excellent opportunity to be a part of a team and to help an organization you care about increase its impact on the lives of youth and adults in Greater Boston.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
-Meet with SAVY and work collaboratively to evaluate existing support materials and determine updates and new materials needed
-Work independently to create assigned support materials/systems envisioned by the SAVY Team
-Support GRCB orientations and volunteer trainings
-Identify possible resources (organizations, trainings, etc.) that could benefit GRCB youth or volunteers, update a database of these resources on the google drive

TIME COMMITMENT:  20-30 hours / year
-4-5 (1 to 2 hour) meetings a year with the SAVY Team (made up of 5-10 volunteers and the Year-Round Program Director), virtually or in person when conditions permit.
-Up to 15 hours of independent work creating support materials/systems envisioned by the SAVY Team (most of these hours will fall in late winter and late spring, prepping for spring and summer sessions)
-Up to 5 hours providing support at GRCB orientations and/or trainings (based on your availability and capacity)

QULAIFICATIONS
-Interest in improving the GRCB youth and volunteer support materials/systems
-Professional experience working with youth (experience in fields of mental health, education, or non-profit youth work a plus)
-Strong contributor in team environments
-Proficiency in Google Drive, including Google Calendar, Google Docs and Google Sheets, a plus but not required

SUPPORT
Onboarding will include an orientation to GRCB and to the SAVY Team. Ongoing support will be provided via regular communications with the SAVY Team Lead and fellow SAVY Team Members, and participation in SAVY Team Meetings. GRCB is committed to providing ongoing training and support needed to help volunteers be successful in their roles.

SAVY Team Leader
GRCB is seeking a volunteer or pair of volunteers with professional experience working with youth in mental health, education, or out-of-school settings to lead the SAVY Team and support the coordination of our efforts to build support tools, trainings, and systems for GRCB volunteers. This is an excellent opportunity to lead a professional team to help an organization you care about increase its impact on the lives of youth and adults in Greater Boston.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
-Coordinate efforts of a team of 5-10 volunteers
-Schedule and facilitate 4-5 meetings a year with the SAVY Team (made up of 5-10 volunteers and the Year-Round Program Director), virtually or in person once conditions change.
-Lead the group through the process of evaluating current support materials/systems and designing/creating new support materials/systems
-Support delegation and ownership of SAVY projects, so every team member knows what they are responsible for
-Update Google calendar with important deadlines and other dates
-Maintain and file materials and documents in Google Drive
-Research and identify possible resources (organizations, trainings, etc.) that could benefit GRCB youth or volunteers, maintain a database of these resources on the google drive
-Remind group members of deadlines

TIME COMMITMENT: 45 - 55 hours/year
-4-5 (1 to 2 hour) meetings a year with the SAVY Team (made up of 5-10 volunteers and the Year-Round Program Director), virtually or in person when conditions permit.
-Up to 2 hours prep time/meeting to coordinate meeting time with the team and write the meeting agenda
-Up to 15 hours collaboratively creating support materials/systems designed by the team (most of these hours will fall in late winter and late spring, prepping for spring and summer sessions)
-.5 hour / month updating the group on project deadlines and maintenance of files in Google Drive
-.5 hour / month researching and updating resource database
-Up to 4 hours providing support at GRCB orientations and/or trainings (based on your availability and capacity)
-Quarterly support meetings with Year-Round Program Director (up to 4 hours)

QUALIFICATIONS
-Interest in improving the GRCB youth and volunteer support materials/systems
-Professional experience working with youth (experience in fields of mental health, education, or non-profit youth work a plus)
-Ability to facilitate meetings that include the voice of every group member
-Ability to guide a group from an evaluation process into a problem solving project design process
-Ability to keep track of multiple projects and deadlines
-Ability to support the work of other SAVY team members through deadline reminders
