Here's Digg in the Endless Pool last night, pretty clear picture!  I want to point out the technique of his streamline here, notice how his head is tucked inside his arms and in the same line as his body and arms, it's like his head fits right inside that space.  He's looking at himself on the mirror on the bottom of the pool here to check to see if there are any gaps between his shoulders/arms and his head.
About a boy who didn't think he had what he needed inside of him...
You are not a finished product...
What is Grit?
Does IQ (IQ is "School Talent") mean that you will do well in school?  What does motivation have to do with success?
Learning quickly is important for success in anything, but what's more important to success and why?
When they tried to predict who would drop out and who would ultimately thrive in challenging situations, what one characteristic was more important to long term success?
What is "Grit"?
What does "sticking with your future" mean?
What does it mean when she says that talent is either unrelated or "inversely related" (meaning as one thing goes up the other thing goes down) to grit?
What does having a Growth Mindset have to do with Grit?
We need more than just a Growth Mindset to develop Grit.  What do you think would help you become "Grittier"?
Blake was the 1st person to break 1:30 in the 200 yard Free, he won a gold medal as a part of the 400 Free Relay in Rio, and he's one of the best 100/200 Freestylers we have on Team USA right now.
Is greatness a gift in your DNA reserved for a chosen few and if you have it you're golden and if you don't then too bad?  Can you BECOME great?
What are the steps you take towards greatness?  What does he say is harder than taking those steps?
What is the mindset of someone on the journey to greatness?
Blake was not always "great."  In the all time age group rankings for the 100 Meter Free, Blake doesn't even show up until he's 20th in the 17-18 age group.  In the 200 Free he shows up for the first time as 84th in the 15-16 age group and then 17th in the 17-18 age group.  So do you have to be the best right away or is there time to become great?  Will waiting around for your time make you great or do you need to DO something to become great?
Blake Pieroni on Grit
What does Blake say Grit is?
What does Blake like about swimming?
What do you think Blake is a like as a teammate?
Watch Blake swim  at :25-:31, he's doing freestyle coming towards you and takes 2 breaths for you to see.
What do you see about how he takes his breath?
Watch again and notice that he rises and starts rotating while he's recovering and hits his breath as his left arm surges forward and his right arm hits it's height.  THIS IS WHERE YOU SURGE YOUR KICK.  Notice also that his right arm is PUSHING him to to this position and he's pushing as his body is rotating and as he's kicking because those things add strength to the move.  Visualize yourself doing this and then do this in front of a mirror.  How does this feel different than what you normally feel?
Today we will learn about the CP System, click this link:  https://www.coursera.org/lecture/youth-sports/part-3-creatine-phosphate-cp-mechanism-KC5dq    In the video you will see the speed graph of the men's 100 Meter Run.  You can see a huge surge in power over the 1st 2 seconds to get the runner going, and while those stores  in the muscles are being used, the CP system gears up to full power for the run. The runner who slows down last is the one that looks like he's surging, but really everyone else is just slowing down sooner.
The CP system is ready to fire again after about 90 seconds of rest, so sets that we do in practice where you swim only a little bit but get more than 90 seconds of rest will use the CP system.   Which system allows you recover faster so you can fire the CP power again?

The CP system does NOT produce acid byproduct, so there is no negative consequence for fully using high power energy output for :08 seconds.  Which system gives us the acid waste that shuts our body down?
