Causes of Burnout: Museum Stories
Please use this form to share stories about the six research-based factors related to burnout:
  • unsustainable workload
  • perceived lack of control
  • insufficient rewards for effort
  • lack of a supportive community
  • lack of fairness, and
  • mismatched values and skills.
If you haven't yet read the Museum Questions blog post on burnout and the research identifying these six causes, I encourage you to do that! You can read it here.

I invite you to share positive as well as negative stories - I'd love to collect examples of ways museums work toward positive experiences of staff engagement, as well as experiences that lead to burnout. Please only include one story per form, but feel free to complete this form as many times as you would like.

This is NOT an anonymous form, as I need a mechanism for fact checking and understanding context. However, I  will not follow up with others without your express permission, and you can choose to have your story shared anonymously. In other words, no one else will know you shared this story with me unless you allow me to share your name and museum.
