• Work as a team to complete all sections of an exemplary yearbook.
• Attend journalism camps and conventions throughout the summer/ school year. (online workshops highly likely)
• Take photos of school related events, write relevant articles/captions; meet with advisers, administrators, students, and/or coaches to get background information or interviews.
• Work with community members and parents/ students to sell business ads in the community and advertise sales of senior congratulatory ads.
 • Consistently meet deadlines and be responsible for completing your pages; designing layouts, proofing, editing, etc.
• Learn different aspects of the field of journalism and management of a business.
• Demonstrate punctuality, organization, perseverance, and initiative.
• Do what needs to be done, even before asked to do it.
• Keep (BIG) secrets and show dependability and trustworthiness.
• Maintain exceptional grades and behavior in other classes.
• Put the yearbook FIRST because it is a class. Beside it being an extracurricular activity, it is still a GRADE and your eligibility will be evaluated weekly if you are selected to join the staff.

In addition to the application, YOU…
 • Must maintain good grades. It’s important for me to see that you can balance your grades and extracurriculars, and a “B” average or better in English is a must as all of our staff must be good writers and proofreaders. Eligibility reports WILL affect your spot on staff.  However, being a part of a yearbook is more than just having good grades. You will be “hired” to perform a job that will require perseverance, initiative, and independence.
• Must have two teacher recommendations—one must be from an English teacher (done via email links).
• Must submit a paragraph essay (that also showcases your writing abilities) explaining why you would make a great addition to our team.
• Must submit the application listed therein before 11:59 p.m. on Friday, April 2, 2021.

• Will begin training with editors to take pictures, create spreads, and sell advertisements.
• Will attend a regional yearbook workshop. (This is tentative given the current situation!)
• Will be expected to work pre-enrollment prior to school starting at the beginning of August; will assist the photographers that come for staff, student, and yearbook picture days; will set up tables during both lunches, Open House, parent/teacher conferences, etc. to sell yearbooks, amongst other duties.
• You will be expected to attend assemblies and athletic, academic, performing arts events that are both local and out of town to WORK as a yearbook staff member.  
• Some members may be responsible for maintaining the yearbook’s social media accounts through Instagram, Facebook, among others.
• You will represent the staff and yearbook with respect and dignity at all times. This includes social media.
• Will begin making friends, selling ads, learning stuff, and making grades before school even starts.
