September 28th, 2021 and October 5th, 2021 at 12:00 - 2:30 PM EDT: Elementary School Literacy: Bringing Lessons to Life Virtual Workshop
This two-part workshop will take participants on a journey through our lesson planning process by introducing new and revised resources that support excellent thinking in literacy instruction. Using these tools, participants will plan for a reading lesson that elicits strong thinking and observe Success Academy teachers engage in the same preparation. Then, attendees will have the opportunity to virtually observe the teachers implement the lesson and engage in conversation about what makes for purposeful instruction that improves both thinking and reading outcomes. Finally, we’ll zoom in on strategies for helping individual students strengthen their thinking and become confident independent readers.

Attending with your school teams is highly encouraged! This workshop is open to educators who work in schools or for non-profit organizations.

Then, we’ll virtually go into a classroom, see the lesson in action, and consider when and how the teacher is using math class to encourage original thinking. Finally, attendees will hear the teacher reflect on their own planning and level of success in leveraging moments for strong thinking.
