General info
September 14-17, 2020 - EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland
https://www.psik2020.net

Psi-k 2020 will be the 6th general conference for the worldwide Psi-k community, following very successful events held in San Sebastian (2015), Berlin (2010), and Schwäbisch Gmünd (2005, 2000, 1996).

This major conference – the largest worldwide in electronic-structure – brings together the community that is active in the field, as described by the Psi-k mission statement: "... to develop fundamental theory, algorithms, and computer codes in order to understand, predict, and design materials properties and functions. Theoretical condensed matter physics, quantum chemistry, thermodynamics, and statistical mechanics form its scientific core. Applications encompass inorganic, organic and bio-materials, and cover a whole range of diverse scientific, engineering, and industrial endeavours."

The conference program will be structured around 3.5 days (from the afternoon of September 14, 2020 to the end of September 17, 2020), that will include 7 plenary talks, 42 symposia in 6 parallel session (~120 invited talks and ~240 contributed talks), and a MAD evening. With more than 1000 participants expected, it will be a key event in the field, offering an intense but enjoyable atmosphere, in addition to a chance to explore the beautiful region around Lausanne and Lake Geneva.
Worldwide community call
Psi-k is launching a general call to the entire worldwide community to suggest thematic symposia and associated invited speakers to be considered by the Program Committee (that will meet in October 2019) for inclusion in the conference.

Suggested symposia, on one of the many themes fitting to the Psi-k mission (see above) will last between 2 and 3 hours, and cover between 2 and 4 invited presentations (30 min each), and between 2 and 6 contributed presentations (15 min each), that will be chosen by the symposia organizers among the abstracts submitted by May 1, 2020.

If you want to submit a suggestion for a possible symposium, please use this form below. Deadline for submission is September 8, 2019 (midnight CEST).

A submission will require a short symposium description and motivation (max ~200 words), the names and basic data (email, affiliation, google scholar link) for the symposium organizers (up to 4 names), as well as suggestions for the invited speakers on the topic (up to 4 names).

The criteria for the scoring of suggested symposia will be the usual ones:
1. scientific merit, timeliness, and interest of the topic
2. intellectual diversity and inclusiveness of the speakers
3. scientific merit of the organizers
4. responding to the Psi-k mission statement.

Note: In case of multiple submissions on the same/similar topic, the Program Committee might also consider consolidating proposals, configuring a symposium with speakers and organizers drawn from the different suggestions.
