Thank you for your interest in an employee resource group, an initiative of the the Division of Diversity and Innovation. The Division of Diversity and Innovation operates in Academic Affairs under the guidance of the Chief Diversity Officer with the goal of connecting SDSU faculty and staff with individuals who share common interests or backgrounds.

ERG’s are designed to build an inclusive environment for SDSU employees from various employment groups, with particular attention to employees from historically underrepresented and under served backgrounds. ERG’s serve to advance the university’s diversity and inclusion agenda through the Division of Diversity and Innovation goals.

The following is a list of recognized ERGs from the most current academic year cycle. Please indicate you interest in any of these organizations.

SDSU Asian Pacific Islander Desi-American (APIDA) ERG.  As members of APIDA, we seek to establish a dynamic and powerful presence at the university by increasing our visibility and our voice. To that end, we aim to create a supportive community in which we dialogue and engage about issues of identity, perspective, power, and privilege so that we can build a diverse, inclusive, engaging, intellectual, and social learning environment for all.

The Black Faculty & Staff Association provides Black employees the opportunity to connect, share experiences and expertise, and promote professional development. Through programs and events, BFSA strives to promote cultural awareness in support of the University’s diversity efforts. The mission of this organization is to be a visible and viable agency dedicated to promoting and enhancing identity, sense of community, professional welfare and development among Black faculty, staff and students of San Diego State University.

In efforts to build a community around issues that are central to Black women at San Diego State University, Black Women in Academia (BWA) affords opportunities for Black women around campus to discuss and support each other on issues regarding work (both administrative and academic), promotion, service, teaching, and how those issues intersect with their socio-emotional well-being on campus and in the greater San Diego community. In addition, we look forward to collaborating with other ERGs and academic organizations to meet the goals of the university.

The San Diego State University Filipino-American Faculty and Staff Association is open to all SDSU faculty and staff interested in celebrating Filipino-American culture. Our aim is to contribute to the growing diversity of our SDSU community by increasing awareness, education, and promotion of Fil-Am culture.

First-generation faculty/staff are critically important in advancing the success of our First-Gen student community. We bring together SDSU leaders and practitioners who actively seek avenues to support each other’s professional advancement while best meeting our first-generation students’ specific needs. The First-Generation Faculty/Staff Association builds community among campus leaders and provides spaces for scholarly discussion, information sharing, networking, and program development.

The SDSU Latina Network shares and celebrates our diverse Latina heritage with our campus community by: advocating for the educational advancement of Latina students and other underrepresented student populations; empowering Latinas through a supportive network of role models and mentors; providing networking opportunities for SDSU Latina faculty and staff; and offering scholarships for first-generation SDSU students with demonstrated financial need.

In the spirit of inclusion,  LatinX, ChicanX & Hispanic Faculty/Staff Association welcomes individuals from our shared identities and all interested allies in hopes of cultivating relationships with the local community and fostering an environment of inclusion for faculty and staff at SDSU while promoting greater understanding and appreciation of the cultural diversity among the workforce.  

The Native American and Indigenous Faculty and Staff Association (NAIFSA) is a group focused on fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment at San Diego State University for individuals who identify as Native American/indigenous. We are dedicated to communicating an understanding of the experiences of Native American and indigenous faculty, staff, and students, and facilitating awareness, education, and respect for their unique histories, cultures, and perspectives in order to create an environment in which the NAI community may thrive and prosper.

San Diego is known to many as a robust military community and San Diego State University is recognized nationally as a top University supporting the military and veteran community. The Military and Veteran Faculty and Staff Association (Mil/Vet FSA) serves as an opportunity build networking and strengthen camaraderie among those working at SDSU who currently serve or have served in the nations armed services. Membership is open to faculty or staff member employed at SDSU by the State of California, as part of the SDSU Research Foundation, or as a member of one of the tenant Reserve Officer Training Corps leadership cadres.

The San Diego State University PRIDE Employee Resource Group serves to foster an inclusive, open campus community, advancing equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex and allied people

WBA is a volunteer led group of faculty and staff at SDSU interested in supporting the well-being and advancement of women in business academia. WBA addresses the unique issues that women in business academia face, issues that impact their careers, families, and communities. WBA is a place to find inspiration, build friendships, and find support to thrive at SDSU.
