Available Opportunities
Please check the boxes under each role you would be willing to help with.
Room Parent
Help the teacher coordinate volunteers and facilitate communication throughout the year. (Please note: Room Parents do not have to be at all classroom events.)  Room Parents are selected after classroom lists are released in August.  Additional details will be provided at Room Parent orientation in September.
Buddy Family
Serve as a buddy family for a family new to the area to help them feel at home at Cherokee and in Lake Forest.  The APT New Families Coordinators will generally match families based on the ages of the children.
Kindergarten Greeter (start of school)
Greet the kindergartners on the first days of attendance and help them find where to line up on the playground.
Parent Evening Social Host (September/October)
Host a grade-level parent social in your home during the fall to help parents mix and mingle.  You provide the space and parents bring the food/drinks.  Details will be managed by the APT Evening Socials Coordinator.
Picture Day Helper (September 28th)
Straighten collars, help children comb hair, and help keep the classes organized for photographers.
Classroom Photographer
Assist the Yearbook team in capturing school memories.  Classroom Photographers take pictures of the students in their child's homeroom in a variety of settings.  (Cell phones are fine to use.)  Classroom Photographers are trained on how to upload and build pages in the online yearbook system.
Helping Hands Helper
Come in on an "as needed" basis when a staff member needs help with a specific project (hanging art work, helping to set up events, etc.). Volunteers for Helping Hands are coodinatred by the APT Helping Hands Coodinator.
Special Skills
We would love your help!  Do you have an Area of Expertise you could share with our students?  Passions?  Hobbies? Teachers welcome parent "experts" to speak in the classroom on the following topics:
