Thank you for your interest in learning more about the Promise Scholarship at the University of Southern Maine.
The Promise Scholarship is making a substantial difference in the lives of economically disadvantaged Maine students. Over $9 million dollars has been raised over the last four years to provide financial support to eligible Maine students. Promise provides a multi-year, top-off scholarship award that ensures that 100% of tuition, fees, room, and board are met for each Promise Scholar. While Promise provides critical funding that makes college more affordable, Promise is much more than a scholarship. The Promise Scholarship provides first-generation, limited-income Maine students with wrap-around support that aids students in earning their degree in four years including; an intimate first-year immersion week experience centered on volunteerism, peer mentorship, individualized support, and programming opportunities to build community, connection, and develop a sense of belonging to the USM community.
Virtual informational sessions will include:
- an overview of the program, student services, and program benchmarks
- a Promise Peer Leader who can offer the student perspective
- Q & A
Twenty-five scholarships are provided annually to eligible incoming first-year or transfer USM students.
The Zoom links will be emailed 24 - 48 hours prior to the event.
