The Solano Local Food System Alliance will hold a conversation among experts in how zoning and planning decisions are made and what are the steps that have to take place when development is proposed for farmland at its next public meeting from 4-6 pm Nov. 16. Panelists include those with knowledge of county planning, regional planning, orderly growth initiatives and environmental/public interest law.
Because planning and zoning have such a large effect on the local food system — and because many people don't know the intricacies of how planning and zoning decisions are often made — the Solano Local Food System Alliance has made an effort to educate themselves and the public on this topic.
In advance of the Nov. 16 meeting, the Alliance invites you to submit your questions on Solano land use policy, planning and zoning. These questions will be shared with the panel in advance of the event so they can address them. While questions can be submitted until the day of the panel, we encourage you to do so by Nov. 10. Questions will be arranged by topic for the panelists. Due to the volume of questions anticipated, not all questions may be answered during the event.
