When your students read our unique books, please introduce the idea that someone in your classroom could become a young author and preserve a local story. Writer's Guidelines are found under the A BOOK by ME tab at understandingworks.org. Each book project requires an adult story coach. In the past, teachers have posted on social media that they're looking for a story to tell and found success.

Other students have shared their desire to interview a senior citizen on social media, the radio or television asking for a story to tell. Due to limited production budget, we limit our new book projects to WWII, Korean War, the Civil Rights era or Vietnam War.
