Island Icons Nomination Form
The Coronado Historical Association's Island Icons Program is a special oral history program pioneered in 2020 by CHA volunteers Peg Eddy and Jan Corbett to conduct interviews with Coronado natives and long-time residents.

At its core, the Island Icons initiative is a type of oral history interview. With that in mind, we prioritize capturing the stories of living Icons. On rare occasion, CHA will accept an Icon nomination of a deceased person if an interview with relatives is possible. The interviews are turned into historical vignettes that feature personal memories, life experiences, and advice to younger generations.

Each month, a new Island Icon is featured in an article in the Coronado Eagle & Journal's Coronado Magazine and they are added to the Island Icons wall at CHA's museum. Most importantly, the recorded interview along with the article and notes are collected and stored in CHA's archives. Community members, friends and family, and researchers in the future will be able to access the interview and learn about these special people.

To nominate a person to be an Island Icon, please fill out the form below. Any questions you have about the Island Icons program can be submitted to info@coronadohistory.org or 619-435-7242.
